Dear Parents and Carers
As 2020 comes to a close we have celebrated our many successes and have farewelled our Year 10 students. Our Presentation Assembly last Friday was a wonderful celebration of outstanding student success in academic, sport, the arts and citizenship and I congratulate all students who were recognised. Our Graduation Dinner was also a highlight and students told me that it was “the best night ever” and that they didn’t want it to end! At our Graduation Assembly on Wednesday we sadly farewelled our Year 10 students and we wish them well in all their future endeavours.
We are also farewelling some of our staff. Ms Ali Bignell will be taking leave for the first half of 2021 after her travel plans in 2020 were completely disrupted due to COVID and we wish her well in her travels. We thank Mrs Amanda Williams who has worked with us for about 18 months now. Amanda has shown her versatility as she has filled several vacancies across the MYC and has most recently taught humanities in Year 10. Mrs Leigh-Ann Mick has also taught in the MYC and we have appreciated her ability to step in and teach Mandarin in Years 9 and 10. Sue Jacobs has been a valued EAL teacher and most recently a senior teacher in our 11/12 extension program. Sue will continue teaching English to new arrivals but has been transferred to Norwood and East Launceston Primary Schools. I would also like to thank Ms Teena Spencer who has worked as a TA in 7AB this year. Last term our amazing chaplain, Kylie Aldred, resigned from her chaplaincy position to take up some exciting new roles outside of the DoE. She will still work at Brooks one day a week as a teacher assistant. Kylee Bannon, our wonderful Social Worker will also be taking leave in 2021. I sincerely thank all our leaving staff and wish them well.
Thank you to all our community members for your support in this unprecedented year of challenges. Finally, I would also like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a wonderful Christmas holiday and I look forward to leading Brooks in 2021.
Mrs Louise Fisher
