Dear Parents and Carers
Firstly I would sincerely like to thank our community on their hard work and support during the last three months. It has been a challenging time for all and your support and cooperation in working with us to support your children within the government guidelines around student attendance at school has been greatly appreciated.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming back all our students next week. We believe that our school is a safe place for students to be and we will be putting further efforts into maintaining physical distancing wherever possible, reminders around hand washing and hygiene, and also in ensuring all our buildings are well cleaned each day.
There are still some restrictions in place and these include no borrowing of books from our library, no participation in competitive sports and no assemblies for the remainder of the term. We will also not be having any excursions this term.
Parents are still welcome at school however we ask that you keep this to a minimum and leave once you have completed your errands or meetings.
Attendance will be taken as usual. We expect all students to be back at school next Tuesday morning. We will be back to teaching face to face and there will no longer be the provision to learn from home. If you have a vulnerable child and your doctor says that they should not be at school, you will need to get a medical certificate stating this so that we can put this down in their attendance.
I am sure some students will have some apprehension about returning to school and some who will struggle to return to the school routines. If you have any queries or need extra support please contact us. Together we can make the return to classroom learning a successful transition.
Kind Regards
Louise Fisher

After weeks of Padlet trouble shooting, Mathletics password retrieval, emails back and forth and phone calls home, the Grade 9 team have said goodbye to Home Learning with their final Facebook Live video on Friday 5th June. Adopting a Muppet persona, teachers conducted a Q and A session about students return to school on Tuesday, 9th June. This was a lovely light hearted end to a challenging period for our Grade 9 cohort and we look forward to welcoming them all back next week. Georgie Todman
Year 7 and Year 10 Immunisations
Immunisations Rescheduled to Thursday 11th June, 2020
Vaccinations for Year 10 and Year 7 students who returned a form earlier in the year will be held on Thursday, 11th June, 2020 starting at 9:30am.
Students are given a drink and biscuit following the vaccinations and observed for 15 minutes.
If you have not received your school photos yet we still have several photo packs in the school office.
Winter is a great time for snuggling up under a warm blanket and getting lost in a book. Students are able to place orders with Scholastic Book Club Issue #4 out now. The only way to place an order with the school is to click on the Loop link below and register via the website or download the app onto your phone. It is easy to follow and create an account with your name, email, phone number and password. When setting up children put their first and last name, TAS, Brooks High School and under class just select the library option. Payment is made with credit card or PayPal.
Once orders have arrived at the school, I will deliver to the student listed on the order to take home. Orders need to be placed by Tuesday 16th June. Bec Broad (Library)

Letter from the Department of State Growth
Dear Parents/Carers
As essential services, public transport is exempt from restrictions on gatherings and all bus services will operate as normal during Term 2. However, the continued operation of services is being regularly reviewed based on Public Health advice and updates.
As on-site learning resumes for all students, the number of passengers travelling on buses will increase. Students are encouraged to follow the following physical distancing measures where possible:
- If undertaking short trips, consider walking or cycling.
- When queuing at bus stops, keep a minimum of one metre from other passengers.
- Keep physical distancing in mind and choose a seat away from others where possible. Members of the same household may sit together.
- Minimise the contact with surfaces inside the bus as much as possible.
- Practice good hand hygiene and where possible, wash or sanitise hands before boarding the bus.
- Cough or sneeze into elbows.
- Do not occupy the first row of seats nearest the driver.
- Always comply with any requests from driver.
As a further safety measure, operators have been advised to clean school bus interiors each morning and afternoon using a commercial grade pH neutral detergent (not acid or alkaline), with a focus on high volume touch points such as handrails.
Please be assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of students when travelling on buses and to manage risks based on the best and latest evidence and medical advice. However, if you, or your child/ren are uncomfortable with the arrangements that are in place, you may wish to consider alternative means of transport.
Students should not use public transport if they are supposed to be in isolation or are unwell.
If you have any queries regarding the operation of bus services, please direct them to Passenger Transport at ptscontracts@stategrowth.tas.gov.au or (03) 6166 3343. New information on school bus arrangements and the fare amnesty can be found on the Department of State Growth website: https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/families-community/public-transport
